2025 Korean-American Society of Houston Academic Scholarship Application
Please DOWNLOAD and complete the scholarship form provided below. Email the completed form and all additional materials to scholarships@kashouston.org by October 3, 2025 at 11:59PM. PURPOSE
The KASH Scholarship recognizes distinguished high school and college students who have demonstrated active community involvement, leadership, and academic achievement. The scholarship will be rewarded based on these factors to honor and support future leaders.
AWARD
The scholarships will be presented in the amount of $1,000 each for TWO winners. The recipients will be given prior notice and are expected to attend Korean Festival Houston at Discovery Green on October 11, 2025.
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must be EITHER a high school senior in the 2026 graduating class applying to an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution for 2026 Fall Semester OR a full-time college student already attending a U.S. post-secondary institution.
Graduate and Doctorate students are also eligible to apply.
Applicants must submit their most recent transcript at the time of application or
Applicants must hold a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher
REQUIRED MATERIALS
For High School Seniors ONLY:
A complete scholarship application form.
An official high school transcript of grades through the student's junior year. Unofficial transcripts WILL NOT be accepted.
A copy of your indication of class rank (if available).
A copy of your acceptance letter from a college or university (if available)

For College / University Students ONLY:
A complete scholarship application form.
An official college transcript of grades through Spring 2025. Unofficial transcripts WILL NOT be accepted.
All valid documents must show the applicant's full name, college/university’s name, enrollment dates, and student status.

Applicants will receive an email notification and recognition on KFest media pages.
All videos will be given to KASH for future use in promotional materials, examples, and social media.

Creative Scholarship Prompt 1:
Participants will create a 3-5 minute video sharing how Korean culture has impacted their identity, values, creativity, or daily life. This could include elements such as family heritage, food, language, K-pop, holidays, or personal interests.
Requirements:
Create a 3-5 min video (TikTok or Instagram) on how Korean culture has impacted your identity, values, creativity, or daily life.
Include elements like family heritage, food, language, K-pop, holidays, or personal interests.
Narrate in English (you may use Korean, but include English translation) and tag @kfesthtx in your caption.
Submit your video file to scholarships@kashouston.org. Be authentic, creative, and personal—show visuals and share your story.
Creative Scholarship Prompt 2:
Participants will produce a 3-5 minute video exploring the Korean presence in Houston. The goal is to highlight how Korean culture is thriving locally — from businesses and restaurants to community events, churches, or people. Be creative and engaging—use visuals that capture Houston’s Korean connections.
Requirements:
Create a 3–5 min video (TikTok or Instagram) showing how Korean culture is thriving in Houston.
Feature local businesses, restaurants, events, churches, or community members.
Narrate in English (you may use Korean, but include English translation). Tag @kfesthtx in your caption.
Submit your video file to scholarships@kashouston.org. Be authentic, creative, and personal—show visuals and share your story.
Finalist Selection
After all submissions have been posted and reviewed, the EIGHT videos with the most likes between Tiktok and Instagram will be entered into a final selection process. These finalist videos will also be reposted on the @kfesthtx TikTok and Instagram account.
Winner Selection Criteria for Finalist:
Finalist videos will be reviewed and judged by a panel of Korean-American Society of Houston members and officers.
Judging panel will review submissions and take into account the following criteria:
Interpretation of the theme
Creativity and originality
Production skills
Disqualifications:
Submissions containing profanity will be rejected.
Applications missing mp4 file, transcripts, or enrollment verification documents will be disqualified.
Announcement
The winners of each creative scholarship category will be notified through email and through our social media accounts on October 7, 2025. To receive an award you MUST attend Korean Festival Houston on October 11, 2025 and be present to appear on stage (time to be announced). Should you not be able to attend, please email with a valid reason or you will not be able to receive the scholarship amount.
